POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
JOB KNOWLEDGE
Bachelor’s degree required.
Knowledge of adult student characteristics.
Knowledge of adult basic education content areas.
Teaching ability in Basic Education or GED content areas.
Ability to organize data to produce student reports.
Ability to make decisions concerning student instruction.
Demonstrate effective job-related skills that model effective integration of technology.
Demonstrate competence with assisting others to appropriately integrate technology into the curriculum.
Proficiency with standard functions within electronic applications such as MS Office (e.g., word processing, electronic spreadsheets) and e-mail.
Proficiency with computers (PCs and/or MACs) to include desktop management, file management and operations, and working in a network environment.
Exceptions to these requirements will be considered based on exemplary skills, training, and record of success.
PRODUCTS/OUTCOMES
Responsible for the implementation of basic education instruction to adult students.
Under minimum supervision, conducts instruction as specified in AE program curriculum guide and handbook.
With the assistance of the supervisor, plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the adult student.
Maintains a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
Uses a variety of instructional methods and techniques.
Meets and instructs classes as designated.
Prepares for all classes assigned.
Determines the correct entry level of students.
Evaluates student progress regularly.
Registers and orientates students.
Maintains accurate, complete, and up-to-date records.
Uses instructional materials wisely.
Counsels with students regarding instruction and program services.
INITIATIVE
Makes routine decisions regarding the everyday operation of the classes assigned.
Plans ahead for all assigned duties.
Occasional updating of knowledge on effective teaching.
Reacts to immediate and changing needs of students and supervisors.
Provides suggestions for improving AE program instruction and operating procedures.
COMMUNICATION/HUMAN RELATIONS
Interacts with students, teacher aides and the general public.
Communicates frequently with students, teacher aides and supervisor.
Communicates regularly with general public.
Establishes positive rapport with students served.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Function within the policies and administrative procedures of ESC-20.
Serve at the will of the Executive Director.
Accept other responsibilities as assigned.
Comply with the requirements of the ESC-20 Quality Management Systems (QMS) as detailed in the ESC-20 Quality Manual, Quality Procedures, and Work Instructions.
Attend all meetings and inservice training as needed.
Travel independently to fulfill the requirements of the position.
